Michael Jackson and the Number 7 |
|
If you're still in a numerological frame of mind, you'll probably enjoy — and perhaps even find deep meaning in, or not — TMZ's list of coincidences involving Michael Jackson and the number seven:
• Michael Jackson signed his will on 7/7/02. • Michael Jackson's memorial was on 7/7/09 ... exactly 7 years after the will was signed. • Michael Jackson's two biggest hits -- "Black & White" and "Billie Jean" — were each #1 for 7 weeks. • Michael Jackson's three biggest albums — "Thriller," "Bad" and "Dangerous" — each produced 7 top 40 hits. • Michael Jackson was the 7th of 9 children. • Michael Jackson was born in 1958 ... 19 + 58 = 77. • Michael Jackson died on the 25th ... 2 + 5 = 7. • Michael Jackson has 7 letters in his first and last name.
Yaawwwwwwn.
Mathematicians say the odds of improbable numerical coincidences occurring in everyday life are far greater than most people realize. And the tendency to see meaningful patterns in random data is deeply ingrained in human nature.

Michael Jackson Memorial Donations -- Next to Nothing |
|
The city of Los Angeles has only received $17,000 of the $1.4 million it cost to put on Michael Jackson's memorial -- but it's not because MJ fans are cheap ... it's because of the complete failure of the official donation website.

The press release from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says, "The city's Information Technology Agency could not handle the high volume of traffic or adequately respond to receive contributions for several hours Tuesday afternoon ... for at least 12 consecutive hours Tuesday evening ... and periodically throughout Wednesday morning."
So Villaraigosa is begging MJ fans to go back to the website and cough up a donation -- but please, not all at once.

Rubik Cube inventor devises new puzzle to drive us all to distraction |
|

His cube was one of the most popular and infuriating toys of all time. Now Professor Ernö Rubik is hoping that the sphere will bring sleepless nights to the world’s obsessive puzzlers.
The creator of Rubik’s Cube is back with his first new puzzle for almost 20 years and early indications are that it is going to be every bit as irritating as the original.
Rubik’s 360, which goes on sale next week, features six small balls inside three interlocking spheres. The task is to lock each ball into colour-coded capsules on the outermost sphere. Professor Rubik said of his cube that it was “easy to understand the task, but hard to work out the solution”. It is just as aggravating to crack the 360.

Michael Jackson to be buried without his brain |
|

Michael Jackson will be buried this week– without his brain. As his family tries to finalise details for the King of Pop’s funeral on Tuesday they have been told it will be held back for tests.
They faced the grim choice of waiting up to three weeks for Jackson’s brain to be returned to them or go ahead and bury him without it – which they have decided to do.
Los Angeles Coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey confirmed that neuropathology tests will be carried out to see if it holds any clues to the exact cause of his death.
But the examination cannot begin until at least two weeks after the death when the brain has hardened sufficiently to slice it open.
Jackson died from a cardiac arrest at his Beverly Hills mansion on June 25 after a suspected overdose of painkillers.
Sources at the coroner’s office revealed that his brain was removed before his body was released to relatives the next day.
